Thing # 12 Creating Community Through Commenting

First of all to be a successful blogger you need to like to blog. You need to feel what you have to say is important and that someone would be interested to read it. You need to be as honest (without being cruel) as you can.
Google Blog search is easy to use and I did post to a couple of blogs.

LibraryThing # 11 Catalog your books online

This was relatively easy, would be a great tool for people in book clubs that live in different cities, states.

Thing # 10 Online Image Generator

Okay so here it is...It is very simple when you just take the time to think!

Thing # 9 Useful Library-Related Blogs and News Feeds

I didn't like this activity at all. It seemed like the more I read the more confused I became. Most of what I found was of no interest to me and therefore was of no use to me.

Thing # 8 RSS Feeds and Readers

I set up my Google reader. I really had not noticed the RSS sign on the articles that I had read on the internet until now. I guess it is an okay tool if you have time to sit at the computer and read..I really don't have time to do much of it.
Being in the clinic at several schools I could use it for health alerts.
Libraries could use RSS for research projects.

Thing # 7 Cool Google Tools

I really like iGoogle. To be able to have the links you want on one page is great.
I also set up an iAlert for weather for the Texas Gulf coast. My son has recently started working on a fishing yacht that is primarily in the gulf so needless to say I keep an eye on the weather.
I could see how students could use both of these tools for several subjects. If they are doing a currnet events project to have alerts sent to them for updated information would be helpful.

Thing # 6

I really liked the MAPPR. Not being in a classroom or library I would not be able to use this for the students but I would like to create one that my grandkids could post their vacation pictures on.

Thing # 5 Flickr

This has been fun. I can see how it can be very useful for really just about anyone. I have family all over the United States that I will be posting pictures for. My nephew sends me pictures of their kiddos and it is great to get them.
